You are invited to experience the sublime music of Charles-Marie Widor’s 5th Organ Symphony on Sunday, November 21st at 4:00 p.m. at Queen of Apostles Church. Queen’s former Director of Music, Kent Jager, will perform the work in concert on the parish’s Moller organ. You have likely heard Kent play the famous Toccata from this symphony at Easter, but rarely do you get to hear the other four movements. Come experience the extraordinary breadth of sound which Mr. Widor has masterfully brought together in this piece.
Two other pieces fill out the afternoon. Variations on the Star Spangled Banner by Dudley Buck takes the familiar tune we all know and puts some very fun and creative spins on it, including one variation in a minor key. How is that possible???? Of course, no organ concert would be complete without a bit of Bach, so the famous Little Fugue in G minor will also be heard.
A reception will follow the recital.
