Confirmation is celebrated in February, March or April for eighth grade students in the parish school, for eighth graders attending non-Catholic schools, or for high school parishioners who have not been confirmed. Confirmation for adolescents is defined by the Archdiocese of Chicago as a two-year process.
For Reliigious Education students, the 1st Year of preparation for Confirmation begins in early September and continues through early May. For students in Catholic schools, the 1st Yeat of preparation for Confirmation is in their daily Religion classes, late August through early June. A day-long retreat is offered on a Saturday in February for all 1st Year Confirmation Prep students together.
For all students, the 2nd Year of preparation for Confirmation begins in mid-September and continues until the date of the Confirmation Mass in the Spring. A parent night, sponsor night and Confirmation Candidates’ service hours and retreats are part of this preparation.
