Divine Mercy Holy Hour & Enshrinement
Join us to observe a Holy Hour of Prayer in the Queen of Angels Church at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2021 as part of Divine Mercy Sunday weekend. The hour includes solemn exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, the Liturgy of the Hours, the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy, music, and a reflection from guest presider Father Xamie Reyes. Prayer aids will be available. At the end of the Holy Hour, our Pastor Monsignor Jim Kaczorowski will lead Benediction and the enshrinement of an image of the Divine Mercy for Queen of Angels Church, site of shared worship for Queen of Apostles Parish (formerly Queen of Angels and St. Matthias).

Because of the pandemic, please register for the Holy Hour if you plan to attend. Attendees are encouraged to plan to return for the 5 p.m. Mass which anticipates Divine Mercy Sunday. Please register separately for the 5 p.m. Mass. The church will be emptied for sanitizing between the two events.
The Divine Mercy Novena, prayed over 9 days from Good Friday through the Sunday following Easter (Divine Mercy Sunday). is an opportunity to express trust in the greatness of God’s mercy, to pray for different groups of souls and to immerse them in the fount of mercy represented by the blood and water flowing from the wounds of Christ crucified, as was revealed to St. Faustina Kowalska.
- Eucharistic Adoration is time spent praying before the Blessed Sacrament, the Eucharist, recognizing that we are with Jesus when we are with the Eucharist in which Jesus is truly present.
- The Liturgy of the Hours, or Divine Office, is the set of daily prayers prayed at different hours of each day by priests, ordinary lay Catholics, and religious communities of monks and nuns with whom it is especially associated.
- The Chaplet of the Divine Mercy is a different set of prayers, for the salvation of souls, that can be prayed with the help of the beads of an ordinary Rosary.
Easter Greetings
Dear Parishioners,
As we celebrate Easter, we know deep in our hearts that the road to Resurrection and New Life may be the one we least expect.
In his book Show Me the Way, Henri Nouwen describes our Lord’s life as one of “hiddenness.” In other words, Christ’s journey towards Resurrection and New Life was paradoxically one of downward mobility, a life where power, popularity and ambition had no value.
As the Light of Christ from our Paschal candle shines in the darkness at our Holy Saturday Vigil service, let us say “Thanks be to God!” for all our parishioners and family members who serve and love God’s people in “hiddenness”— people who neither seek nor desire power, popularity and upward mobility. Their only concern is that the hearts of their brothers and sisters will be set on fire by the Light of Christ.
On behalf of the staff of our newly named Queen of Apostles Parish, I wish you and your loved ones a Blessed and Joyful Easter. May Christ our Light continue to break through the darkness of our lives and the lives of the people we love.
A blessed Easter,
Monsignor Jim Kaczorowski

Pascua, 2021
Queridos Feligreses,
Letter from Fr. Larry McNally
Dear Family of Queen of Apostles,
Holy Week Greetings. I am looking forward to celebrating with you the Triduum and celebrating Easter Sunday Morning Mass. This is my favorite Church week of the year.
I want to tell you all that I am retiring after just about 44 years as a priest. I love being a priest, and I have so enjoyed my life as a priest. I have enjoyed my time here with you, and you have helped me grow as a priest. I thank Fr. Jim for all his support of me and our parish over these past few years. I thank him also for advocating for me and graciously inviting me to stay on for a few extra months after our merger to be here with you. I am so grateful for the extra time to be here with you while the Cardinal and Vicar for Priests helped me to discern my next position.
To our St. Matthias Parishioners I am glad through your generosity we were able to paint the interior of the Church to help us to celebrate the Sacraments of our Church. Yes, the last months have been at times painful and sad for us, but let us join now with Queen of Angels and be one with them now known as Queen of Apostles.
And to Queen of Angels Parishioners, thank you for your friendly welcome each and every Sunday Morning.
I will be moving to the Bishop Lyne Retirement Home in Palos Park in April. The room I have been assigned to is not ready for occupancy yet.
I will be back in the summer hopefully after the Covid 19 is mostly over to celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving for my wonderful time here.
Please know that you will continue to be in my daily Prayers.
I thank you so very much for your priestly support in my time here. I so appreciate it.
As my Grandmother used to say, “God loves” and He does. And I love you, too.
GOD’S BLESSINGS!
Fr. Larry

Remembering Fr. Harry Bonin
Father Harry Bonin passed into eternal life this past Monday, March 22, 2021.
Father Bonin was the choir director while resident at Queen of Angels and teaching at Quigley North in the 1970s. He later returned to help as a weekend celebrant in more recent years as a retired priest, until his health made the long drive from his home no longer safe He was a great advocate for the poor and homeless, and fostered justice in his parishes by learning Spanish to better serve those in his local flock. He will be greatly missed!
The funeral for Father Harry Bonin will be streamed live at 11 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2021 on the website of St. John of the Cross Parish in Western Springs (click on the blue banner for the live video broadcast).
