Introduction to the Session (25 minutes) by Ms. Hohner
Gathering and Icebreaker (10 minutes)
Name a club, team, or group to which you belong (or wish you could belong).
Opening Prayer (5 minutes)
We have just celebrated Sunday feasts related to occasions where Jesus was revealed to be God-with-us: The visit of the Magi (3 Kings, Epiphany of the Lord) guided by the star of Bethelhem, and the Baptism of Jesus when the heavens opened and the Father’s voice asked us to listen to his Son. These events are sometimes called theophanies, a term most often used by our Eastern Orthodox Christian brothers and sisters. A theophany is a moment when God is revealed or manifested to humankind. An early theophany in the Old Testament is God revealed to Moses in the bush that was burning brightly but not being consumed by the fire. A later theophany in the New Testament is the Transfiguration, when Jesus’ clothes glowed blindingly white in front of his disciples’ eyes. Art of these events helps us to appreciate the role of light in each one. The light in each of these reveals divinity, shows the presence of God’s own Spirit, and we are constantly guided by this beacon.

Closing Prayer for Hope and Light
Heavenly father, I am your humble servant,
I come before you today in need of hope.
I need hope for a calm and joyful future.
I need hope for love and kindness.
I pray for peace and safety.
Some say that the sky is at its darkest just before the light.
I pray that this is true, for sometimes life seems stormy and dim.
I need your light, Lord, in every way.
I pray to be filled with your light.
Help me to walk in your light, and live my life in faith and service.
In your name I pray, Amen.
