CHILDREN’S RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Registration will open after Easter Sunday for Religious Education (CCD) during the 2024-2025 school year. The program is designed for children not attending a Catholic elementary school. Families are encouraged to register their children who will be entering Kindergarten through Eighth Grade in order to:
- grow in friendship with Jesus and in Christian moral values,
- learn about Mass, Church teachings and Catholic traditions, and
- prepare for sacraments of First Reconciliation (Confession), First Holy Communion (Eucharist) and Confirmation.
Classes are conducted in English, though communication with families is in English and Spanish. The online registration forms are available in English and Spanish.
To register for Sunday classes intended for those in Kindergarten through 7th Grade, including 1st Year Confirmation Prep, please click here. K-7 CCD classes will begin on Sunday, September 8 and will be held in person on Sunday mornings through the first Sunday in May, 2025 The full schedule including parent formation dates will be available in August.
To register for 2nd Year Confirmation Prep for qualifying students in 8th Grade and above which meet on Monday evenings, please click here. The second year of Confirmation Preparation begins with a parent and student informational meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, September 16 in Queen of Angels Church, 2330 W. Sunnyside, and the first class for all 2nd year Confirmation Prep students at 6:45 p.m. on Monday, September 23 in Mission Hall at the Parish Center, 4412 N. Western. The Sacrament of Confirmation is expected in late February, March, or early April 2025 but has not yet been scheduled with the bishop. The full schedule of classes and events will be available in late August.

- New students who are older than Eighth Grade but younger than Twelfth Grade (or 18 years) may also be accepted into the Religious Education program, but please call for Level placement and further details. Beginning students who are already 17 or close to it may be referred to our RCIA program for those over 18.
- Sacramental preparation for adults over the age of 18 is through our RCIA Program, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. Please contact the parish office, apiedra@qofachicago.org or 773-539-7510.
- Families who prefer remote or at-home learning (for all or part of the year) due to special circumstances in the family should contact Ms. Rachel Hohner, Coordinator of Religious Education, at 312-857-6782, to discuss.
