Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), now called the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA), provides learning, dialogue, prayer and community to welcome new members into the Church. Adult baptized Catholics who have not received First Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation complete their sacramental journey.
Membership is open to adult non-Catholics seeking membership in the Church, baptized Catholics seeking First Eucharist and Confirmation, and trained parishioner lay leaders and outside speakers.
The group meets on Mondays, September to Holy Saturday from 6:30 – 8 p.m. at the Parish Center, 4412 N. Western, 2nd Floor.
Please contact Queen of Apostles Parish Office at 773-539-7510 or parish@qofachicago.org for more information.
The name changed from RCIA to OCIA in 2024-2025 due to the implementation of different translation guidelines for rendering Latin into English. In this context, a Rite is the way a liturgy or a sacrament is celebrated. An Order is a collection of Rites.
